Restoring an Ocean City Boardwalk Landmark

Following a major fire that destroyed the original 7th Street Surf Shop, Lasher Construction was selected to rebuild one of Ocean City’s most recognizable commercial buildings. The project required complete reconstruction of the fire-damaged structure while meeting modern building codes and maintaining the character of this iconic Boardwalk destination.

Complete Structural Reconstruction

The existing fire-damaged building was stripped to its remaining structural elements before reconstruction began. Our team installed an entirely new structural framing system along with new reinforced CMU block walls, rebuilding the structure from the ground up. Every component was constructed to meet current structural requirements for a high-traffic commercial building exposed to the demanding Jersey Shore environment.

Commercial Interior Construction

After the structural work was completed, Lasher Construction performed the complete commercial interior fit-out. The project included framing, drywall, finishes, coordination with mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades, and preparation of the retail space for occupancy.

GAF 30-Year NDL TPO Roofing System

To provide long-term protection against the coastal environment, a new GAF TPO roofing system was installed with a 30-year No Dollar Limit (NDL) warranty. The roofing assembly provides exceptional weather resistance, energy efficiency, and long-term performance for this highly exposed Boardwalk property.

Building on the Ocean City Boardwalk

Working directly on the Ocean City Boardwalk required extensive planning, material staging, scheduling around pedestrian traffic, and coordination with local authorities. Lasher Construction successfully completed the reconstruction while maintaining quality workmanship and efficient project execution.
